Mind Freak

I wonder what your thinking about right now?

Singing a song to yourself, fretting about your math test (guilty!) whatever you're thinking about, you are always thinking, but you're always thinking with words. Even if you're not exceedingly aware of what your thinking about, there's always a little voice saying something. (usually nasty things about your mother) But it's still saying something with words. So, is that where consciousness arises, when you make the jump from grunting to words? Possibly.

Now imagine that you are a toddler again, or even younger if you can. You may have memories of stuff, but can you ever remember what you were thinking, or how you felt?

Okay, if you passed that test (no, I don't care what you remembered) then back up even further.

Can you remember anything from ages 0-3?

Nope, nobody can.

Well, you can't remember, but you know you were alive at ages 0-3, so something must've happened right? (More on this later, post will be called Time Freak). So, but were you thinking?
Well, maybe you weren't thinking at all...
As I've explored in various posts (Helmet of Horror, I Spy) I very strongly believe in subjectivity, as well as a belief that the future we see is what we expect to see, based on what we experience in the past (Dark Stranger) Okay, further expansion on those couple topics.

You weren't thinking is what we would consider in the normal sense. You were definitely aware of your surroundings, but you formed no conscious thought. What do babies think? They can't think in words, as they have no understanding of language, so can they form conscious thought? Most people believe that babies think, but are unable to express all of their thoughts through language. Well, maybe they can do neither. I personally believe more effort should be expended on this topic, finding exactly what happens before we have preconceived notions, and are then predicting our lives. We need to get at this root, back when we truly are a "clean slate." We cannot be born with notions as there is nothing for our notions to be based upon. Our brains are very clever computers, they will not make illogical decisions. So maybe that's what a baby's brain most resembles, a computer with no ability to output information. It just eats, sleeps, and breaths until is has enough information to function properly.
