The Helmet of Horror

- I will build a labyrinth in which I can lose myself together with anyone who tries to find me

The Helmet of Horror (as discussed in the previous post, the Labyrinth, which you are strongly recommended to read first to even have slight comprehension) is a pseudo-hypothetical "virtual reality helmet" which fuses the wearer of the helmet "the subject" into one entity with the helmet itself, easing the manipulation of the subject (and the manipulation of the helmet really) Now, this will be a confusing technical description, so don't even pretend to get it the first time. For ease of reading all physical components will be bolded, while the flow of energy will be italicized.
The Helmet of Horror consists of a series of components, which alter and create reality. There is no beginning and no end, it is more of a cycle, and is thus easier to understand as a physical object, when in fact it does not "technically" exist. Firstly, everything is created in the Separator Labyrinth. This means "I", "you", "good and bad" and everything else arises here. The Labyrinth takes all the things that occurred in the past and ejects them into the top part of the helmet, takes the future events and ejects them into the bottom segment, and takes the present events and converts them into the stream of impressions, that is the way the subject perceives the events, which then strikes the Frontal Net. The Frontal Net harnesses the energy from the impressions, turning it into heat, which it passes along to the Now Grid. The Grid separates the helmet into 2 parts, with past being on the upper portion, and future on the bottom. It is called the Now Grid because it is the only part in the present. The Now Grid, which is now heated, produces the force of circumstance from the heat, which flows upwards into the Separator Labyrinth, starting the cycle over again. Now, to really mess with your head, there is a semi-separate cycle occurring simultaneously. The force of circumstance, which flows upwards into the Separator Labyrinth passes through the past (the past being above the Now Grid, the future being below it) The past is energized by the force of consequence, and it flows into the Horns of Plenty. The Horns of Plenty exit out the top of the Helmet, curve back and intertwine, and re-enter the helmet at the very bottom. The Horns of Plenty contain everything that every is, was, or will be. It also contains every emotion likewise. It is a veritable rubbish tip of content and emotion. Now, the energized past flows into the Horns of Plenty, where it becomes enriched with the past contained in the Horns. They form bubbles, which then exit the Horns at the bottom, in the future section. They rise, and pop on the heated Now Grid, which creates the force of circumstance. Now, since the Horns are at the top of the Helmet (where the past is) the past can only be enriched with more past. The past becomes more important and gains value, by adding memories to it. Seeing as only past can only be mixed with past, the whole world is composed of the past, which is then separated in the Separator Labyrinth into future, present, and past.

Now, how do you fit something this crazy and complex onto someone's head? The thing is, is you can't fit someone's head into it. The Person who is "wearing" the Helmet arises in the Separator Labyrinth, is transformed into the stream of impressions, heats the Now Grid, becomes the force of circumstance, is forced into the Horns of Plenty, is enriched with past, and exits as a bubble in the future region, only the break on the Now Grid and re-enter the Separator Labyrinth. You can't wear the helmet, anymore than you can wear "the Internet." But the control of the whole situation is in the Separator Labyrinth. It creates the stream of impressions, which is how the subject perceives the world. If you control the Separator Labyrinth, you control how the stream of impressions is created, and how the subject will perceive the world. The only problem is that you arise in the Separator Labyrinth, as does your desire to control it.

Now, the big catch is that the Helmet arises from itself. The Helmet itself arises in the Separator Labyrinth, which is a component of the Helmet itself. And the Helmet exists in the Horns of Plenty, along with everything else in the world. So how can the Helmet be smaller than any one of its components?

  1. ah, applause, reminds me of this: "how can we travel faster than the speed of light if the atoms we are made of interact at that speed? simply: how can we travel faster than our parts?"
